I like nail polish topcoats. I like the idea of buying one thing that can efficiently make every other polish I own look unique. With that in mind, I picked this up at my local dollar store as they often have Nicole by OPI and other brands on for about a quarter of what I’d pay for them in a drugstore or mass retailer otherwise. I thought it would be nice to have a more outright gold glitter topcoat, and that it would flatter a lot of shades. I picked up this unassuming little gem for $2-3 and was on my way home to swatch. Look at that header pic again. Gold sparkle topcoat right?
HOLY CRAP.
This is not your everyday gold sparkle topcoat. This is an intensely bold, dense with glitter, golden spangle-y sequin-y opaque with 3-4 coats polish. The gold leans cooler in tone, and I like that the sparkles don’t feel rough to the touch when dry. It had the benefit of a topcoat in being fast drying, but with so much impact. This is like Vegas on a fingernail! A bunch of pics in various lighting. This looks even more opaque and glistening in person.
Twist of Fate is very aptly named! It’s like I applied gold leaf and a super shiny topcoat to my nails! I was really surprised at what this little seemingly humble, demure little topcoat could do! Perhaps this is how this one remained unsold on regular shelves long enough to make it to the salvage/discount market! You would never know just by looking at it. Was a nice surprise for me! I can see my self putting this on top of many upcoming NOTD!
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Wow, super pretty 🙂

Yes that bottle design is truly terrible. It fits well in the palm of your hand, and then no where else at all! I gave up on storing my Nicole polishes in any way that made sense and put them in a decorative bowl!
