Rimmel has stepped up their game in recent years. I recall being disappointed in their powdery, unpigmented formulas for face powder and blush around 10 years ago, and am glad I’ve given them another try. I haven’t been disappointed in a product of theirs for the past couple of years, with the exception of one eyeshadow quad format with a Union Jack flag design that made it near impossible to pick up shadow from one of the smaller segments. I passed on those no matter how pretty the shades. When slapping on the warpaint in the morning, I can only tolerate fuss-free application.
This latest blusher offering from Rimmel is something I’ve been looking for a while now. Does anyone remember Bonne Belle Blushing Gel? It may still be available in the US but I haven’t been able to find it in Canada since the mid 90’s. My skin tends to oxidize and fade blush relentlessly, and the only thing that ever wore well was a gel formula. I tested a few other “cream” options, but all had some sort of glitter or were too creamy and wouldn’t set on my oily skin.
After seeing a few positive reviews for Rimmel Stay Blushed, I decided it sounded just about perfect. I found it at my local drugstore for $6.99, on sale for $4.99, plus I had a dollar off coupon making it $3.99, an attractive price very easy to rationalize when trying something new.
The tube is small at 0.47 fl oz or 14ml, but you don’t need much. I’d imagine the tube lasting a couple of months with every day use. I picked up a shade I thought would work well with my NC20/25 skin, Touch of Berry, 002. I had a hard time finding swatches for this particular shade and will include them.
Swatched on bare NC20/25 skin, a tiny dab sheers out to a natural looking medium pink, glitter free stain. I tested this last evening, and the stain, although faded, is still clear on my arm. Lovely colour that stays true with zero oxidation, great wear.
The product does have a light, citrusy floral scent. I don’t find fragrance to be necessary in makeup but the scent doesn’t bother me either. If you are highly sensitive to fragrance, this is worth keeping in mind. I believe the scent is the same as their newer “Wake Me Up” foundation line, if you are familiar with that.
From the back of the tube: Lightweight liquid blush blends instantly & seamlessly. Apply a small amount with your fingertips for a natural flush of colour that lasts all day.
Do I agree? YES! Worth the purchase, especially if you can grab a deal like I did! Providing this product doesn’t break me out (I will update if it does), I will purchase it as long as they make it.
Thanks Rimmel, I have been looking for a product like this for a long time!

EDIT: I just saw that one of the search terms for this post was “can’t find Rimmel Stay Blushed anywhere”. I agree, it can be hard to find, so I will offer the only tips I have! In Canadian mass retails (like London Drugs, where I found mine) it is NEVER on the Rimmel display. Never, not once since launch. It is always on its own, in another aisle, or on a different, smaller display, or sometimes grouped with other makeup products being promoted at the time. The tubes are small and easy to over look, especially if there is no formal display. Heck, my London Drugs has them, about 4-5, sitting on a shelf, alone, no signage other than a small price tag in front of them, in the aisle where the perfumes are. Who would think to look there, right? If you want to order online, I know well.ca has them.
Hope you find yours!
