Autumn Leaves – A Neutral NOTD!

autumn_nails

Hi! Today’s rushed NOTD I went with a neutral palette of beige and bronze for some leaf stamp art. I used Sally Hansen Bare It All, Essie Summit of Style and Avon Glimmer. I had some trouble with Bare It All. The brush held on to a lot of product and the formula was thin, making application a bit tricky. Good thing it’s a forgiving nude. I also had some trouble capturing the leaf stamps in a photograph due to the pale tones. I’d wait for sun for a better shot, but there’s none in the forecast so these will have to do! Overall it’s a bit too subdued for my taste even with the glitter. I’ll mix it up with the occasional neutral like this but I love my darks and brights! Some pics in crappy lighting because that’s all we get here in Vancouver now! On the upside (?) I guess I’ve accidentally found my mannequin hands nude!

Halloween Nails!

halloween_nail_art

Happy Halloween! This years Halloween nails will be stamped, as I found a cute plate with some spooooooky images. I used Wet n’ Wild Black Creme, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Sally Hansen Hot Tamale as it’s the closest thing I have to a true orange. Stamping plate was found on ebay.

The left paw from thumb to pinky: Trick or Treat with bat, furry spider, jack-o-lantern, cutest ghosts ever, and my favourite, a haunted house!

The right paw from thumb to pinky (a little sloppier): spider web, witch on a broom, jack-o-lantern, bats, spooky spider!

Delftware Inspired Stamped NOTD with Sinful Colors

delftware_nails_polish_sinful_colors

You know Delftware, I’m sure. Everyone’s grandma or favourite aunt has it in the china cabinet or displayed on a wall! White pottery painted with blue (and sometimes other colours) it is beautiful, and I hope to have a piece of it myself one day.

THE GOAL!

THE GOAL!

Inspired by a coworker who said the grey nails with a blue print I had on that day reminded her of Dutch Delftware, I thought I could do a closer rendition of it if I could find a good enough white polish. While not perfect, Sinful Colors Snow Me White did the job ok (with some fussing and effort.) I paired it with Sinful Colors Endless Blue, next attempt I think I will use something more navy. The stamping plates I used are shown in the header, although as mirrors they don’t photograph too well.

Results! Not bad. The bird (thumb) showed better than anticipated, and the floral pattern on the rest stamped well. I do have a tulip pattern I can try next time, nails would need to be a bit longer for it however as the print is larger.

Black & Gold Nail Art/Stamp NOTD!

Sinful Colors Black on Black, Sally Hansen Go For Gold, stamping plate.

Sinful Colors Black on Black, Sally Hansen Go For Gold, stamping plate.

Today’s dramatic nail art is with Sinful Colors Black on Black, and Sally Hansen Go For Gold. I used 2 coats Black on Black over a base coat, then applied top coat. I’ve learned that you can’t apply a top coat over a Go For Gold stamp, as it fades the lovely metallic foil. Stamping it right on top of the top coat still works well! I really liked the design of this stamp. I tried to center it, but it disagreed with me. I still like how it turned out!

The plate was dirt cheap from ebay, has code TU-042 on the bottom.

Have a nice week!

Sinful Colors Sail La Vie Swatch, Daliah Stamp Nail Art

Today’s experiment in nail art stamping will be done with Sinful Colors Sail La Vie, and Essie After School Boy Blazer which I thought for sure I had swatched & reviewed already, but it appears I haven’t. It’s an ultra dark slightly dusty navy. Sinful Colors Sail La Vie is a nice cool, crisp medium blue, with a touch of barely perceptible shimmer in the bottle which doesn’t seem to translate to the nail. First coat is patchy, but a second thick coat evens everything up nicely. I love this kind of cool shade with my skin tone. Swatches below.

I followed up 2 coats of Sail La Vie with a stamp of a dahlia flower print, using Essie After School Boy Blazer for a blue tone on tone effect. I’m still working out how to not be sloppy with the stamping as it’s so new to me, but I liked the result!

Will have to try this stamp again with some kind of pink/red/purple combo. I love dahlias! Have a great weekend!
