I knew right away which lovely polish from my $10 Goodie Bag for Breast Cancer Foundation fundraiser I wanted to try first! Today I will show you Nicole for OPI Brilliant Idea swatches on both bare nails and other shades.
Brilliant Idea is a Lime green-gold sparkle coat. I have never seen anything like it! It has tiny greenish-gold glitter and matching greenish gold larger circle glitter as well, in a clear base. I applies smoothly, doesn’t feel too rough once dry as some sparkle coats do, and dries very quickly. This particular bottle boasted a “New Perfect Stroke Brush” which was of the wider, flatter type I prefer. I also find it interesting how the Nicole bottles seem to be ergonomically designed to fit snugly and comfortably in your palm, although I still prefer square bottles for storage purposes. On to swatches! I should note this glitter looked *much* more intense in person!
After swatching on bare nails, I wanted to check it out over various other shades to see what I liked. Below are the shades I picked for testing, from left to right is OPI Black Onyx, NYX Titanic, Reitmans Mineral Aqua, Reitmans Coral Flash, and Rimmel Rags to Riches.
The goal here was to pick a favourite, then redo them in the selected favourite, but I had way too much fun with the varied shades and decided to leave it for a day or two! I did pick a favourite however. I chose Rags to Riches to test over because it is a green with gold micro glitter, and those two features together reminded me of Nicole Brilliant Idea. Rimmel Rags to Riches manages to somehow capture the shade and feel of (American) cash in a nail polish, and is an old favourite. Painting on a layer of Brilliant Idea over top felt like metaphorically throwing some gold doubloons on top of a pile of cash! It’s harder to pick up in a photo as the shades complement each other so well, but I assure you it looks like they were made for each other! I can’t imagine using Rags to Riches without a coat of this on top ever again! I sense a NOTD with this soon, I’m on a huge green nails kick lately!
I’m really happy with this unique, fun polish! I especially like the name. Enjoy your weekend!
I really like this over the colour on your middle finger. Perfect for a bit of spring bling. It also looks great over the black for party nails x
